Charles L. “Chuck” Granata is the author of three critically acclaimed books: Sessions with Sinatra: Frank Sinatra and the Art of Recording (Chicago Review Press, 1999), Wouldn’t It Be Nice: Brian Wilson and the Making of Pet Sounds (Chicago Review Press, 2003), and Making Records: The Scenes Behind the Music (with Phil Ramone) (Hyperion, 2007).
As a record producer, project director, and writer Granata has dozens of high-profile reissue projects to his credit, including the historic box sets A Voice in Time (Columbia/Legacy, 2007), Frank Sinatra in Hollywood (Warner-Reprise, 2002), and Frank Sinatra: The Complete Recordings 1943-1952 (Columbia/Legacy, 1993).
He is the producer and engineer for Nancy for Frank, Nancy Sinatra’s weekly radio program on Sirius-XM satellite radio.
Granata has appeared on numerous national radio and television programs to discuss music, Frank Sinatra, Brian Wilson, recording history, and pop culture. TV appearances include Entertainment Tonight, CBS This Morning, CBS Sunday Morning, CNN Sunday Morning, and multiple CBS, CNN, CNN-FN, CNBC, and MSNBC spots. Among his radio guest spots are CBS News Radio, NPR”s Fresh Air (with Terry Gross), NPR Morning Edition, Sid Mark’s syndicated Sounds of Sinatra, and many local NPR programs.
